What Is Direct Officer?
The essence of Direct Officer is: the “controls me” relationship between the Day Master and a Heavenly Stem of opposite polarity.
“Controls me” means that the Five Element attribute of this Heavenly Stem controls the Five Element of the Day Master. “Opposite polarity” means that this Heavenly Stem has a different yin-yang quality from the Day Master.
Simply put:
Direct Officer = controls me + opposite polarity.
For example, if the Day Master is Jia Wood, which is Yang Wood, Xin Metal, which is Yin Metal, controls Jia Wood. Because their yin-yang polarity is opposite, Xin Metal is the Direct Officer of Jia Wood.
The relationship between Direct Officer and the Day Master is a controlling relationship with yin-yang pairing. It belongs to a form of restraint based on attraction and harmony between yin and yang. This kind of restraint is gentle, orderly, and proper. Therefore, Direct Officer is classified as an auspicious god, and is regarded as the most noble among the Ten Gods.
Yuanhai Ziping says: “Direct Officer is something that should naturally be honored, just as a country has its ruler and a family has its parents.” This means that Direct Officer is like a ruler or parent — a presence that should be respected and not lightly offended.

Direct Officer is formed through two conditions: Five Element control and opposite yin-yang polarity.

Does Hurting Officer always damage Direct Officer?
Hurting Officer restraining Direct Officer is a basic relationship within the Ten Gods system.
